I earned my bachelor of arts in 1975 and my master of business administration in 2007, both from The Ohio State University. I’ve also received the Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award and named The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business Alumnus of the Year for Community Service.
I started my first company, WorkPlace Media, in 1988, and grew it into the largest at-work consumer media company in the U.S. before selling it in 2007 to to a private equity firm. I then repurchased the company in 2013, and it continues to serve national clients such as Nestle, McDonald’s, Goodyear, Starbucks, Wrigley, and Pfizer. I started my second company, Raising Cane’s of Ohio, in 2003 with my son, Timmy. It has since grown to include 20 restaurants, grossing over $45 million sales in 2016 alone. With distiller Tom Lix, I also helped launch The Cleveland Whiskey Company in 2012.
I reside in Ashtabula with my wife, Alice. We have three grown children, Tim, Kevin and Caitlin and delight in sharing pictures of our three grandchildren, Noah, Rowan and Rose Alice.
